Dr. Maie Hilmy is a Specialist of Psychiatry with a special interest in Women’s Mental Health and Adults. She has experience in managing several mental and personality disorders.
She is a member and one of the founders of the World Association of Young Psychiatrists and Trainees (WAYPT), a branch of the World Psychiatric Association (WPA), which was founded in 2005.
Dr. Hilmy has had extensive training and experience in both Pharmacotherapy and different forms of Psychotherapy having been part of the Psychiatry Department in Cairo University. There, she received training in different subspecialties of Psychiatry including Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Addiction, Liaison, Geriatric and Emergency Psychiatry.
She was a co-therapist with Prof. Dr. Yehia El Rakhawy in group therapy from July 2007 until June 2008.
She was also one of the members of Prof. Dr. Yehia El Rakhawy’s T-group from January 2010 and until January 2011.
Moreover, she has practiced Group Therapy, Art, Music & Drama Therapy, plus Individual Psychotherapy whether Dynamic, Eclectic or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
She had been part of a project on promoting the mental health of street children funded by the UNICEF in 2011, not only as a psychiatrist but also as a trainer for personnel (social workers and psychologists) dealing with street children.
