Dr. Hany Ragy

Chief of Cardiology at National Heart Institute, Cairo, Egypt

Dr. Hany Ragy is Chief of Cardiology at the National Heart Institute in Cairo and a highly experienced consultant in interventional and general cardiology. He is a principal operator in the Institute’s catheterization laboratory, which comprises five cath labs performing more than 15,000 procedures annually. Dr. Ragy personally performs approximately 700 percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) cases each year as the primary operator.

In addition to his leadership role at the National Heart Institute, Dr. Ragy serves as Director of the Catheterization Laboratory at Hayat Hospital in Cairo and is a principal operator at the Cairo Catheter Center, the International Medical Center, and Dar Al Fouad Hospital. With more than 27 years of experience across all aspects of cardiology, he brings extensive expertise to both complex interventional procedures and comprehensive cardiac care.

Dr. Ragy has a special interest in echocardiography, including advanced techniques such as contrast echocardiography, as well as in the diagnosis and management of hypertension. He leads the Cairo Hypertension Clinic, a recognized center of excellence for blood pressure management, and previously served as Chairman of the Annual Meeting of the Egyptian Society of Hypertension in April 2010.

Committed to cardiovascular prevention, Dr. Ragy established the Egypt branch of SHAPE (Society for Heart Attack Prevention and Eradication) in September 2010. He is also actively involved in anti-smoking initiatives, running a pro bono clinic that offers free counseling, individual support, and group therapy for smokers, in addition to delivering educational lectures in underprivileged government schools in cooperation with Rotary Clubs.
