Dr. Hisham Bassiouny

Professor Hisham Bassiouny is a distinguished vascular surgeon and internationally recognized authority in minimally invasive vascular interventions. He is a Fellow of the American Board of Vascular Surgery and a prominent member of the Society for Vascular Surgery in the United States. He completed his residency and fellowship training at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit and the University of Chicago after graduating from Cairo University Faculty of Medicine.

Dr. Bassiouny held the position of Professor and Chief of Vascular Surgery at the University of Chicago from 1987 to 2011, served as Visiting Professor at Erasmus University in the Netherlands in 2017, and later worked as Senior Vascular Surgeon at Henry Ford Hospital in 2018–2019. He has authored more than 150 scientific publications, including books, book chapters, and peer-reviewed articles in leading international and U.S. medical journals.

His clinical expertise includes minimally invasive endovascular treatment using stents and balloons for aortic aneurysms and dissections, carotid artery disease, and peripheral arterial disease affecting the lower limbs. He also specializes in injection and laser treatments for varicose veins of the lower extremities, offering advanced, less invasive solutions for vascular conditions.
