Dr. Hossam Badrawi
Chairman of Nile Badrawi Foundation for Education & Development
Prof. Hossam Badrawi is a distinguished physician, academic leader, and public figure, serving as Chairman of the Nile Badrawi Foundation for Education & Development and President of the Badrawi Foundation. He is the founder and Honorary Chairman of the Egyptian National Competitiveness Council (ENCC) and previously chaired the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Cairo University Faculty of Medicine during 2009–2010.
Academically, Prof. Badrawi graduated with honors from Cairo University in 1974. He completed his postgraduate studies at Wayne State University in Detroit (1979–1983), focusing on the use of scanning electron microscopy, and pursued further postgraduate education at Northwestern University in Chicago. At Boston University, he undertook advanced graduate studies in curriculum development and educational program design, reflecting his long-standing commitment to educational reform and academic excellence.
Prof. Badrawi has authored more than 120 research papers and contributed to eight academic textbooks in his field. In recognition of his outstanding contributions to higher education reform in the Middle East, he was awarded an honorary PhD in Science from the University of Sunderland (UK) in 2007. He later received an honorary fellowship from Cardiff Metropolitan University in 2014 for his work in the internationalization of higher education. He has also served as a Visiting Professor of Political Science at the Altiero Spinelli Center, University of Rome.
