Dr. Nadia Badrawi

Chair of the Board of Nile Badrawi Hospital

Dr. Nadia Badrawi is a pioneering figure in pediatrics and a regional leader in quality assurance in higher education. She graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University in 1969 and earned her Doctorate in Pediatrics in 1974. She received advanced training in neonatology in France, followed by specialized training in breastfeeding in the United States.

Dr. Badrawi has served in all academic ranks at the Pediatrics Department, Cairo University—resident, lecturer, assistant professor, professor, and professor emeritus—since 1974. She became Head of the Neonatal Division in 1997 and later Chair of the Pediatrics Department in 2006. She is currently the Chair of the Board of Nile Badrawi Hospital and has operated her private pediatric practice since 1974.

A founding leader in neonatology in Egypt, Dr. Badrawi established the Egyptian Association of Neonatology in 1997, the first of its kind nationally. She has also played a major role in shaping medical education in Egypt as a long-standing Board Member of the National Medical Sector Committee of the Supreme Council of Egyptian Universities for planning and development of medical education. From 2001 to 2008, she chaired the national committee responsible for awarding professorial titles in pediatrics.

Dr. Badrawi is the principal author of two pediatrics textbooks and four books on quality assurance, and has published more than 80 peer-reviewed papers in national and international journals. She has chaired and delivered keynote lectures at numerous scientific conferences across national, regional, and international forums, and serves on the editorial boards of leading journals in neonatology and quality assurance.

Internationally, Dr. Badrawi is a recognized expert in quality assurance and accreditation in higher education. She has served as a consultant to the World Bank, UNESCO, USAID, the European Union, the British Council, and DAAD. She was an elected Board Member of the International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education (INQAAHE) for three terms (2006–2010) and currently serves as President of the Arab Network for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ANQAHE). Through her leadership, she has been instrumental in advancing the culture of quality assurance in higher education across Egypt and the region.
