Dr. Eman Sorour

Dr. Eman Sorour is the Director of the Arab Board Training Program, Al Mashfa Psychiatric Hospital, the Former Director of International Affairs & Advisor of Training and International Relation at the Mental Health Secretariat (MHS) Ministry of Health, Egypt, and a Consultant Psychiatrist. She was Professor of Psychology at the AUC between 2011 and 2013.

Dr. Sorour graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, Alexandria University, Egypt in 1981, and subsequently received Master Degree from the Medical Research Institute at the same University in 1987, where she gained experience in dealing with people suffering from mental disabilities.

Having successfully completed her training helped her launch her career in the UK. She later received her PhD in Molecular Neuropsychiatry from the University of Wales in 1997, a Diploma in Clinical Psychiatry from The Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons, Ireland in 2000, and the Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (UK) in 2002. Dr. Sorour also gained a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education from University of Wales together with her second MSc in Forensic Psychiatry from Birmingham University in 2006. In 2007, she moved back to Egypt where she now practices as a Consultant Psychiatrist.

Dr. Sorour is a renowned psychiatrist who uses a Psychosocial Therapeutic Model in her Practice. She is interested in dealing with women’s issues and marital problems and provides service for a wide range of psychological and psychiatric disorders.
