Vaccines

Most people receive childhood vaccinations and don’t think about them again until they need to travel, plan for Hajj or Umrah, or start a family. Vaccination for adults is under-attended in most healthcare systems, including Egypt’s. At Oasis Clinics, vaccines are available daily from 9am to 10pm as part of routine care for adults and children, with clinical staff who can review your records and advise on what you actually need.

Who Should Come

Adults Catching Up on Routine Vaccines

Many adults haven’t checked their vaccination status since childhood. Several vaccines have adult booster schedules that are routinely missed, tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (whooping cough) in particular. If you’re not sure what you’ve had or when, the clinical team can review your history and advise on catch-up doses based on your age and health status.

Travelers

Travel to certain countries requires specific immunizations that aren’t part of the routine schedule: hepatitis A and B, typhoid, yellow fever, and others depending on the destination. Some, like yellow fever, are legally required for entry or re-entry. These should be arranged well in advance of travel, ideally at least four to six weeks before departure.

Pilgrims Performing Hajj or Umrah

Meningococcal meningitis vaccination (ACYW135) is compulsory for all Hajj pilgrims and is required by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as a condition of the pilgrimage visa. The vaccine must be administered at least 10 days before departure to allow a full immune response. Oasis Clinics can administer the vaccine and provide the official certification documentation required for the visa application.

Parents Managing a Child’s Vaccination Schedule

Routine childhood immunizations following the Egyptian Ministry of Health recommended schedule, along with additional vaccines for children in international schools or traveling internationally with requirements beyond the national schedule.

High-Risk Adults and Healthcare Workers

Annual flu vaccination, hepatitis B, and pneumococcal vaccine for adults with chronic conditions, those over 65, pregnant women, and anyone in regular contact with patients or vulnerable populations.

Vaccines Available

Routine Adult Vaccines

Influenza (Flu Shot) Recommended annually, particularly for adults over 50, pregnant women, and those with chronic conditions including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and respiratory conditions.

Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis (Tdap) Adult booster recommended every 10 years. Often missed.

Hepatitis B Three-dose series for unvaccinated adults.

MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) For adults with no documented immunity, particularly relevant before pregnancy.

Varicella (Chickenpox) For adults who have not had chickenpox and have not been vaccinated.

HPV (Human Papillomavirus) Recommended for young adults up to age 26, and for some adults up to age 45 based on clinical assessment.

Pneumococcal Recommended for adults over 65 and younger adults with underlying conditions including diabetes, heart disease, and chronic lung conditions.

Travel Vaccines

Hepatitis A For travelers to regions where the infection is endemic.

Typhoid For travel to areas with limited sanitation or food safety standards.

Yellow Fever Required for entry to many Sub-Saharan African and South American countries, and for re-entry to Egypt from those countries. A valid international certificate is required.

Meningococcal Meningitis (ACYW135) For travelers to high-risk regions and compulsory for Hajj and Umrah pilgrims.

Rabies Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis For travelers to high-risk regions with limited access to post-exposure care.

Hajj and Umrah

Saudi Arabia requires meningococcal meningitis vaccination for all pilgrims without exception. The certificate is required at the point of visa application. Vaccination must be done at least 10 days before departure. Oasis Clinics provides both the vaccine and the official documentation.

Childhood Immunization Schedule

Routine vaccines for infants and children following the national schedule, including hepatitis B, MMR, varicella, and the full primary series. Children attending international schools or traveling internationally can also receive any additional vaccines required by their school or destination.

Vaccine Records

If you’ve lost your vaccination records, or are simply unsure what you’ve received and when, bring what you have and the clinical team will assess your status and advise on any catch-up doses appropriate for your age, health, and travel plans.
